This year's football season was a very long one for us! I can't say that neither Cody or I knew what we signed up for when he got a teaching job three years ago that came with a coaching position. We've been so blessed to be a part of an amazing school and athletic program - but his time away from Gavin and I takes a toll on both of us. He ends up sacrificing a lot of time away from his family, and in turn, I sacrifice certain aspects of my career because he can't help out with Gavin. BUT - I can certainly say that it really does make it worth it when you win STATE. Go Dragons!
So the only pictures I have this year are of the State Semi-Final game and the State Championship Game. Gavin went with me to the Semi-Final game at SMU and the traffic was crazy trying to get there. I allotted two hours to get there and I didn't get inside the stadium until 3 minutes left in the first half. My blood pressure was a little high by the time I got inside...but this game was awesome! We ended up scoring two touchdowns in the last 2 1/2 minutes of the game to win by 4. These boys have amazing hearts and never gave up all season. Here are a few shots from that game.
Gavin and Cody's dad. G loves him some football!
Celebrating!
We played the State Championship the weekend before Christmas at Cowboy Stadium. The traffic was crazy getting there as well because they had the main parking lots and streets blocked off because there was a game played before ours. But I gave myself plenty of time to get there and sat down just in time. I took a lot more pictures here - but my zoom isn't real great.
Running out...here we go!
The place was packed for a high school game!
Seven State Championships (before this one!)
Julia and I - she cheered as hard and loud as I did!!
Touchdown!!!!
We Won! We Won! We Won!!!
All the players lined up to get their medals...and I think Cody is down there somewhere in the mix!
Cody gets about a month off of after-school practices (two weeks which was Christmas break) and then they start back on January 20th for softball. We have thoroughly enjoyed our family time together the past two weeks!
Congratulations to the Dragon players, coaches and families - what an amazing season!
