My last few weeks!

Well - I went to the doctor last Tuesday (March 30th) for my first exam. He was supposed to be able to tell me my status as far as dilation, effacing, position of the baby and give his expert guess of how much Gavin will weigh at delivery. I had a grand feeling that he wouldn't be able to tell me much...and that's exactly what happened! Gavin's heart rate was 146 bpm and I don't think I gained any weighed from the week before. But as far as the exam goes...his words were "closed and long" and he couldn't really tell if Gavin was head-down or not (I personally think so). It was entertaining to see him take total random guesses about it! But I talked him into the fact that he is head-down and he made "more than a guess" that Gavin will be about 6 1/2 to 7 lbs when he is born. He actually has dropped (I noticed that on Friday, March 26th) but that's about all that's going on. He is still pretty active and I certainly have to take runs to the restroom more often than before. But that's my status as of now. I go back weekly (next appt is Tuesday, April 6th) and so we will see if anything new has happened!

In the meantime...I just wanted to share a few more maternity pictures. These are our fun pictures that show just how wonderful my husband is for putting up with me during pregnancy and enjoying the fact that we spent 3-4 hours taking pictures when he would rather be golfing!! While the photographer would take some practice shots to get the lighting correct...we would be goofing off! I've read a lot about how pregnancy and having a baby changes your relationship with your spouse. I will say it's so true...and I haven't even witnessed the baby-at-home situation yet...but Cody and I have become even closer through these past nine months and I never thought it was possible (I thought I was already extremely lucky). He has been so busy with his new teaching job and coaching softball this spring that we don't always get to spend as much time together as we would like. But the times that we do are truly priceless and we just can't wait to become a "family".

I also need to share some love with Pita. I think she knows she is going to have some competition soon. She gets frustrated with me at nightime when I fall asleep with the pillow underneath my belly and in-between my legs. Her normal sleeping spot is now occupied and it makes her really mad! She ended up really loving some of Gavin's toys and if I ever tell her to go get her "toy" she runs to her bed and gets it. Well...one day she ran in Gavin's room and got one of his soft toys in a basket on the floor. I laughed really hard!! But anyway - this picture is of her trying to be sneaky and get a toy out of the basket while we were talking. She is going to be a sweet big sister and be very protective of him. :)
