Telling the news...

I am now almost eight weeks. My oldest sister, Mandy and her family were going to be at my parents house on Labor Day weekend. So we showed up at my parents house on Saturday afternoon and everyone was taking naps. We had basically planned to talk everyone into going to eat at the best mexican food restaurant in the world, Ochoa's, and we would tell them then. Well - it was like pulling teeth to get them to go. My mom was bound and determined to cook (of course) but we finally talked them into going. I was super nervous - I think mostly because I knew that since they didn't know we had even decided to start trying - that this would be a major surprise. So after waiting it out for the longest time and Cody's long stare, I got out my camera to show my mom the picture of my positive pregnancy test. She looked at it long and hard and Mandy looked over at it and finally blurted out the news. "You're pregnant!?" When my mom is surprised she doesn't say much, so I found her staring at me several times after that just taking in what she just heard. After hugs and congrats...we headed to Cody's parents house to do it all over again.

It didn't take Cody long. We went inside and sat down on the couches. Cody's mom was reading a book and we were all just watching tv. Once he told them - his mom automatically starting crying and jump up and gave me a huge hug!! I expected this reaction from her and it was priceless! We also were able to tell Cody's brother, Zach and his wife, Beverly.

I then stepped outside to call Kimberly. I knew she wouldn't be as surprised because I had told her I had looked at baby names before. She was super pumped and we both realized that our kids would be in the same grade! Although they will be eight months apart, they fall into the same grade year. Mom is already worried that their graduations will be on the same day!

After that many phone calls to friends came along. Some screamed and some didn't believe me at first. I also had to tell everyone at work. It's somewhat of a tradition at my company to send out a limerick in an email to tell the news. If you aren't sure what a limerick is (because I didn't when I first came to work here) - you can look it up here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_(poetry). So here is the limerick that I came up with and send out to my co-workers and bosses:

Yo Yo I'm preggo
Betcha didn't know
There's a baby on the way
I'm due the month before May
Watch and see my tummy grow!

It was fun getting responses back. Some write back in limericks and others just say congrats.

When Cody told all of the coaches at work...the typical male response came..."That-a boy!"

So it was official and I was able to take a deap breath...the news was out and now the fun could begin!
