24 weeks

I had my 24-week checkup on Tuesday, December 29th. My fear was when I stepped on that scale that it would be tragic! After Christmas weigh-in's are no fun - even when you are pregnant! But to my surprise - I had gained 3 pounds since my 20-week checkup - resulting in an eleven pound gain total. I feel like it's a lot more than that from my fast growing belly! Gavin's heartbeat was 142. I was informed that at my next checkup I will have to do the glucose test and also get my Rhogam shot. For the glucose test I cannot eat or drink anything after 9:00pm before my 8:30am appointment (tragic!). Then they will give me some (i'm sure horrible) sugar drink and then I have to sit around for an hour before they draw my blood for the test. This will test to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes. I have to get the Rhogam shot because I'm RH negative and they don't want my body creating antibodies in case Gavin has a positive blood type. I honestly cannot say that I'm looking forward to my next appointment!

On a more positive note - I finally picked out the baby bedding. If anyone has a boy I'm sure you know how difficult it is to find bedding that isn't too girly or that isn't animal themed. I am not into the animal themed baby rooms and refused to give in! After a lot of online searching I finally found one I like. My awesome mom is buying the bedding (a tradition since she did this for both sisters) and it is expected to arrive in early January. Cody and I decided over the holidays since he's off for two weeks - that we need to get a head start on Gavin's room. With Cody coaching softball in the spring, he's about to be very unavailable (even on weekends) for a long time! So...I'm so proud of him and excited to say that we have completely finished the painting and trimming project in Gavin's room! I have also ordered the bed and it should be here by mid-January. Here are a few pictures of Cody painting and the finished product...so far!
